The Faculty of Languages and Communication (FBK) was established in January 2007. During the time of Kolej Ugama Sultan Zainal Abidin (KUSZA), it was initially known as the Language Center, which was officially established in 1994 under the School of General Studies. In 2006, KUSZA was upgraded to a public university as Universiti Darul Iman (UDM), which later changed its name to Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin in 2010.
With its new status, the Faculty of Languages and Communication focuses on the development of language, literature, and communication through continuous teaching, research, development, and consulting activities, in line with the needs of the country and the international community creatively and innovatively.
At UniSZA Gong Badak Campus, FBK is located in Block Umar, a three-story building where the ground floor houses administrative offices and rooms for faculty management members such as the Dean, Deputy Dean, and Heads of Departments. The lecturers' offices are located on the first floor of Block Umar, the first floor of Block Abu Bakar, and the ground floor of Block Othman. Additionally, the first floor of Block Umar also contains a resource room that also serves as a graduate room.
The second floor of Block Umar has two lecture rooms that can be combined into a small hall with a maximum capacity of 90 people, suitable for learning spaces or student activities. Two computer language labs are also located on the first floor of Block Umar for use by UniSZA staff and students.
